Week 2 outcomes.

So how did I do?

Saints v Giants. The Giants and Saints had a shootout last year but I cant see that happening this time. The Giants too strong 37-14 The Giants got up in a real arm wrestle.

Titans v Lions. The Lions played well last week but let up big numbers on D. The Titans may run riot on the Lions and win 28-24 It was a close one with the Titans getting up late

Cowboys v Redskins. Redskins were disappointing and the Cowboys could have won. I think the Cowboys will win well 27-14 Got the Cowboys score right, Redskins 23.

Chiefs v Texans. The Chiefs got out of jail last week with a late run by Alex Smith, this will be a ripper I think 21-20 I had the Chiefs..Texans worked them over, JJ Watt got some form

Dolphins v Patriots. Which Pats team shows up? Hopefully the same as last week. The Patriots will go 2-0 with a nice win 27-23 Ended close after Jimmy G went down. Pats looked dominant early.

Ravens v Browns. Ravens by a lot..Hoping for more of Coleman for the Browns thou 28-10 Browns went up early but lost the QB. Ravens won.

49ers v Panthers. The Panthers by a lot. The 49ers looked good but remember they played the Rams 39-14 High scoring game with the Panthers winning well.

Bengals v Steelers. Game of the week for me. It’s a shame it’s the same time as the Pats. I feel the Steelers will demolish them 35-17 Steelers are dominating the comp in front of them.

Buccaneers v Cardinals. Will the Bucs put two together? I think they will 28-27 in a real battle, might be a late TD to win WRONG, Cards put up 40 points in a flogging

Seahawks v Rams. Talk that Jeff Fisher might get an extension..Really? Stupid. Seahawks 37-3 Seahawks got 3 points...Rams won..No one picked it

Falcons v Raiders. Raiders are up and about after last weeks win and I see them running riot this week 28-10 Falcons showed up this week.

Jaguars v Chargers. Another good match this one, Chargers already losing Allen wont help. Jaguars 21-17 Jags did not show up this week. Chargers looking solid

Colts v Broncos. The Broncos will win late after a good battle 17-14 Broncos won late after a good battle. Von Miller with a late strip.

Packers v Vikings. This is another great match and worth watching, the Packers will win 21-14 Vikings lost AP, still won. Diggs dominate with help from Bradford.

Eagles v Bears. Don’t mind this match either. Eagles are going well after Wentz took over, but its only one week. Eagles 24-21 Wentz is looking a solid option at no.1. Dominating the Bears.

I did better in the tipping ha

Week 2 Predictions

So the Jets got away in a high scoring game today. The run of Matt Forte has been extremely good.

Saints v Giants. The Giants and Saints had a shootout last year but I cant see that happening this time. The Giants too strong 37-14

Titans v Lions. The Lions played well last week but let up big numbers on D. The Titans may run riot on the Lions and win 28-24

Cowboys v Redskins. Redskins were disappointing and the Cowboys could have won. I think the Cowboys will win well 27-14

Chiefs v Texans. The Chiefs got out of jail last week with a late run by Alex Smith, this will be a ripper I think 21-20

Dolphins v Patriots. Which Pats team shows up? Hopefully the same as last week. The Patriots will go 2-0 with a nice win 27-23

Ravens v Browns. Ravens by a lot..Hoping for more of Coleman for the Browns thou 28-10

49ers v Panthers. The Panthers by a lot. The 49ers looked good but remember they played the Rams 39-14

Bengals v Steelers. Game of the week for me. It’s a shame it’s the same time as the Pats. I feel the Steelers will demolish them 35-17

Packers v Vikings. This is another great match and worth watching, the Packers will win 21-14

Eagles v Bears. Don’t mind this match either. Eagles are going well after Wentz took over, but its only one week. Eagles 24-21

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks will be around the mark again this year as they have not lost much on both sides of the ball, Russell Wilson is a great QB who moves well out of the pocket to help extend plays. He has some great receivers to throw to and a solid running back squad even with Marshawn Lynch in retirement.

Russell Wilson all thou injured will no doubt have a big season driving his team all the way to the Championship Game and possibly beyond. Wilson has been solid since joining the league in 2012. He is yet to miss a game and has been very dominant. 2015 was his biggest year with 4000 plus yards and 34 TD’s.

Wilsons go to man last season was Doug Baldwin, Baldwin racked up the numbers with 1000 plus yards and 14 TD’s. This was his best year really becoming a reliable receiver. Jermaine Kearse was used less and less as the season went on due to the emergence of Tyler Lockett. Lockett is now in his second year and will be used more on the offense after being used mainly as a punt/kick returner last year. Lockett has speed and reliable hands and will be a headache for most teams.

Thomas Rawls came onto the scene last season after Lynch went down with injury, he played 13 games and was solid with 800 plus yards and 4 touchdowns. Rawls has been injured of late so Christine Michael has seen a bit of time during the preseason and first week. He ran for 66 yards in week 1 and will look to cement his spot at number 1.

Jimmy Graham was the big signing last year coming over from the Saints, Graham was disappointing early but when he got going he really worked well. Unfortunately he went down with a knee injury which closed off his season early. Graham is ready to go thou and Seahawks will be loving it, he will need to work out to get the number 1 spot back from long time starter Luke Willson.

The Seahawks D will be unhappy they have not been mentioned in the best defence conversations for a while, Denver have taken that mantel. I still think they have some of the best but keep losing out to free agency. Bennett, Avril, Wagner, Sherman, Chancellor, Thomas and Lane are as solid as they come and you don’t want to have to face these guys in January if possible.

The Seahawks went 1-0 late Sunday due to Wilson-Baldwin and I think those two will help them to a lot of wins. 12 – 4 is a solid year for them and they will no doubt be up there when it comes to February.

Week 1 Over and Done.

So how did I go?

Patriots v Cardinals.  26-23 Cardinals win. Well I was almost right...Except for a poor snap and a missed field goal..GOOD

Vikings v Titans.Vikings win 28 - 21 Vikings won it with some good defense

Jets v Bengals. 34-17 Bengals Closer than I thought 23-22 Bengals

Saints v Raiders.  21-20 Raiders. 1 point seperated these two and yes Brees kept the Saints in it. 2 Point conversion winning the game

Bears v Texans. 36-7 Texans I had the Texans winning this easy, the Bears went to sleep after half time

Browns v Eagles. 27-21 Browns Nope, RG3 is done again, injured. Eagles out played them

Bills v Ravens.  17 - 14 Ravens Close, pretty low scoring.

Chiefs v Chargers. 28-7 Chiefs Well the Chargers were all over the Chiefs but for a late comeback with Smith running it in to win

Buccaneers v Falcons. Falcons win 24-17 Got this one very wrong

Packers v Jaguars. Packers 24-21 Ivory out before the game didnt help, still a good match

Dolphins v Seahawks. 27-14 Seahawks. Seahawks struggled were lucky to win

Lions v Colts.  28-3 Colts. Colts and Lions took it down to the wire. Well done to the Lions

Giants v Cowboys. 21-20 Cowboys. Well it could have been only for a brain fade late

Steelers v Redskins. Steelers. 21-14. Was a dominating performance by the Steelers

Rams v 49ers. The Rams will walk all over the 49ers. This one is probably a snooze fest to be honest 37-3 Rams LOL, The Rams have shown they are the worst team in the League with this performance

San Francisco 49ers

Well the San Francisco 49ers started better than I thought, their roster is full of young players and blokes who played on other teams but didn’t quite get into the number 1 role. Blaine Gabbert won the number 1 job as QB over Colin Kaepernick and he started great helping his team to a 28-0 rout of the Rams.

Gabbert was great last season after taking over from Kaepernick, the team struggled but Gabbert was still able to be solid. Gabbert played in 8 games and threw for 2000 plus yards and 10 Touchdowns with a low 7 interceptions. Kaepernick had ok numbers coming into the league but failed with accuracy last season before dropping off all together. In 2012 he took the 49ers to the Superbowl only to lose to the Ravens.

Jeremy Kerley joins the team from the New York Jets. He played 5 years with them and was used mainly in the return game. He gets his chance to prove his worth around guys like Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton. Smith now in his second year at the 49ers is really going to be the main man for this offense, in 2013 Smith had a solid year with over 1000 yards receiving yards and then in 2014 he scored 11 touchdowns. He has the ability and its time for him to show it.

Frank Gore is gone, Carlos Hyde is the man now and the kids a star. The offense will lean on him a lot now he is the number 1 guy. Hyde will need to show his durability as he only started 7 games in 2015 after battling injuries. Shaun Draughn is next man up behind Hyde, Draughn has been around for awhile now being passed from team to team filling gaps here and there. He may get more time now especially if Hyde goes down.

NaVorro Bowman is a solid Linebacker and will help this team on defense a lot. Bowman has played consistently over the 5 seasons in the league. 2013 was his biggest year but Im sure the 49ers will get a solid season from this guy. Antoine Bethea is a veteran who the 9ers will rely on a lot aswell. The Safety has now been in the league 10 years and his experience will be extremely valuable for this team.

I originally thought this team was rock bottom but it has shown that they are not, that being said I still see a long season for the 9ers with a 5 – 11 season at best. I don’t see Kaepernick being there in October either, he now seems to be nothing more than a highly paid distraction sitting on the bench.

Week 1 Predictions

So Week 1 is here, what a way to start the season with a Superbowl replay that went down to the last play of the game. Graham Gano missing a long field goal to see the Broncos hold on and win. The Panthers were up by 10 for a long time but were not able to hold on.

Patriots v Cardinals. This one will be close I think. No Gronk and No Brady wont help the Patriots cause, but I believe we have some new guys coming in to help out. The Cardinals are a bloody good team thou so it would be no surprise if the blew the Pats out of the water. 26-23 Cardinals win.

Vikings v Titans. Run Run Run, this will be a slog fest with both teams relying heavily on star running backs. Shaun Hill will get the start whilst Bradford still works out the playbook. I think the Vikings will still win 28 - 21

Jets v Bengals. Will the Jets be able to put up the same offensive numbers as last season? Has Fitz missed to much time in the preseason? The Bengals start well and I dont see that that changing 34-17 Bengals

Saints v Raiders. I think this one will go down to the wire. The Raiders will win but I think the Saints can stay in the game for a long period due to Drew Brees. 21-20 Raiders.

Bears v Texans. Texans, no struggle just straight up domination. Miller will have a big game and people will be asking "Why did the Dolphins let him go" 36-7 Texans

Browns v Eagles. How will the Browns go with RG3? Can Wentz play to his potential straight up. Im going for an upset here and believe the Browns will win this one 27-21 Browns

Bills v Ravens. The one unknown is Flacco, can he overcome his past injury concerns? Yes, I mainly hope so as he starts in my Fantasy team. This is another one that will be close. 17 - 14 Ravens

Chiefs v Chargers. No Jamaal Charles for the Chiefs but it wont matter, Smith will throw the ball and open up the Chargers D. The Chiefs have started well each season with Smith and this will be no different 28-7 Chiefs

Buccaneers v Falcons. Julio Jones will run riot and the Falcons will win, but we will see a lot of good things from the Bucs with Winston showing he is a Star. 24-17

Packers v Jaguars. This looks like a ripper match up. The Jaguars are an up and coming offensive team with Hern and Robinson. I hope they start well but I think the Packers will still will win. 24-21

Dolphins v Seahawks. I think the Seahawks will get this one done pretty easy. The Dolphins are ok but they wont be able to match it with one of the top 4 teams. 27-14 Seahawks

Lions v Colts. The Colts will have healthy star QB back in Andrew Luck and they will dominate this one. I just dont have much faith in the Lions this season, losing Megatron really hurts them. 28-3

Giants v Cowboys. Dak Prescott is he the real deal? One of the big questions going into tomorrows game is if he can handle the pressure of a week 1 start. I believe in him and feel the Cowboys will get up in a close one. Anther great match up 21-20 Cowboys

Steelers v Redskins. The Steelers will be looking to start the season well and I see them having no trouble against Kirk Cousins and the Redskins. 21-14

Rams v 49ers. The Rams will walk all over the 49ers. This one is probably a snooze fest to be honest 37-3 Rams

San Diego Chargers

The Chargers are another team that seems to always disappoint. Phillip Rivers is a solid QB but they always seem to fail. 2015 saw them win only 4 games and finish last in their division. The team was one that was talked about moving back to LA but it did not happen.

Phillip Rivers has a solid season in 2015, he threw for 4792 yards and 29 touchdowns. Rivers just needs more weapons to throw to. In 2015 his main man was Danny Woodhead, thats saying something as Woodhead is a small 3rd down back.

They bring in Travis Benjamin from the Browns to help out in this area, Benjamin was good last season but made way for new recruit Corey Coleman. He had 900 plus yards and 5 touchdowns. I really think he will flourish with Rivers. Keenan Allen is the other guy, he was disappointing last season due to injury, before that he was killing it. Allen played 8 games and was second on the receiving yards list at end of season.

Antonio Gates isnt getting any younger, when up and about he is a quality Tight End. Now into his 14th NFL season the Chargers will be hoping he can get back to his 2014 season stats. They will also be hoping he stays on the field for all 16 games.

Now into his 5th NFL season Melvin Imgram is working hard to become one of the best Defensive players in the league. Imgram finished well ahead of everyone at the Chargers in Defensive acts and also got 10 sacks. The next best player on their D is Manti Te'o who finished with a combined 83 tackles and 1 interception playing inside linebacker.

I dont really have much more to say about the Chargers, I see little improvement on their list and will see them finish last again in their division. 4 - 12 again for them.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are a solid team with a solid bunch of stars on both sides of the ball. Antonio Brown could be the best Wide Receiver in the league. The team will be without star RB Le'Veon Bell for the first 3 weeks but should be right to go after that now he is over the knee problems of 2015. Another player they will miss is suspended WR Martavis Bryant.

Ben Roethlisberger is a top 10 QB in the league and will no doubt continue his solid career through 2016 if he can stay injury free. Big Ben missed 4 games in 2015 but still put up solid numbers throwing for almost 4000 yards and 21 touchdowns. Roethlisberger is a very hard man to tackle as he has great size and balance. I love watching him play.

Antonio Brown as said is one of the best Wide Receivers in the league, the all round nice guy puts up huge numbers each year and is almost unstoppable down the field. Last season he dominated with 1800 plus yards and 10 touchdowns. Unfortunately he will need to take up a lot of the load. Markus Wheaton is solid and will definitely help.

Until Le'Veon Bell is back the Steelers will rely on veteran RB Deangelo Williams. Williams filled the same role last season when Bell was out also suspended. Williams started the season on fire ripping through the New England D at easy. 2015 was his best year since 2009 at Carolina where he was a running machine.

Tuitt and Heyward will man the defensive end positions. Both players have come off ok years recording roughly 7 sacks each. They will be looking to trouble the opposition QB a lot more this year.

Jordan Berry the Aussie punter is still working away for the Steelers which is great to see, the Essendon local beat out fellow Aussie Brad Wing for the position last season and is going pretty well. The Punter was able to get 28 punts inside the 20 with a average of 47% which is up on Brad Wing who had an average of 32%.

The Steelers are a solid team who will be up and about after week 4. They have a solid schedule that should see them win 10 games or more. I will put them down for 10 - 6 but this could be way off.

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles have now just announced a trade that sees Bradford off to the Vikings for a 2017 first round pick. This means rookie Qb Carson Wentz steps up to the plate. The Former North Dakota Star had a monster year in 2014 but only played 7 games in 2015, he is now currently injured but they think he will be right to go for week 1. Wentz will be thrown to the fire with only 1 pre-season game under his belt, he is coming back from broken ribs.

The team traded our LeSean McCoy and then had DeMarco Murray in for 1 season. Murray was ineffective whilst in Philly so was shipped off to the Titans. The team currently has Ryan Mathews as there number 1 back after an ok year behind Murray. Mathews best years were at the Chargers. Darren Sproles might see more action out of the back field, the little man has mainly been used for Kick and Punt returns.

The Wide receiver position is a real unknown for this team, the depth chart shows Josh Huff and Nelson Agholor as leaders of the pack. Both do not have a lot of experience in the league. Huff is into his third year and Agholor now his second. The team will be looking to Jordan Matthews for great input. Green-Beckham will also carry a lot of the load.

The Eagles could possibly be worse than last season, I just don’t see any upside from this team. Wentz may be a good QB but he has no real help if his Wide Receivers don’t perform. I see them going 4 - 12

Oakland Raiders

Oakland Raiders are a team on the up behind some good recent selections at the draft. The team may also be on the move with a switch to Las Vegas very likely in the coming years. Derek Carr has been great for this team with great football smarts and a solid arm. He has one of the up and coming stars to throw to in Amari Cooper.

Carr has been in the league now for 2 years and has shown plenty of ability. With more players around him making plays he will be able to drive his team into the playoffs over the next few years. Carr threw for 3900 plus yards last season and 31 touchdowns.

Amari Cooper is a star in the making, the young wide receiver had 1000 yards and 6 touchdowns in his rookie year and I believe it will be on the up this coming season with him and Carr both working well together. Michael Crabtree has been great value for this young team with his great experience playing with some great teams over the last few years. Crabtree was part of a successful stint with the 49ers which saw him play in the 2013 Superbowl only to lose to the Baltimore Ravens.

Latavius Murray is a tall back who gets the job done. Now into his 3rd season the Raiders will be looking for more production from the big guy. Murray ran for over 1000 yards in his second season. The Raiders are not staked at RB as most are Rookies still finding their way.

Now that Charles Woodson has retired the team has lost a lot of experience on the defensive side of the ball, Khalil Mack will be looking to build on a massive 2015 season where he had 15 sacks!

The Raiders will be a good team, they will not make the playoffs but I feel they will cause some upsets along the way. I have them at 7 - 9

New York Jets

The New York Jets! I love this team due to the fact the Patriots have a solid rivalry with them. It reminds me of Essendon (Patriots) vs Collingwood (Jets). I was hoping the Jets would put Geno Smith back in under centre but Fitzy signed back on at the last minute to give this team a chance again of playoffs. The Jets really let themselves down last season by losing the Week 17 match.

Fitzpatrick was solid last year with help from receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. These 3 put up pretty solid numbers and no doubt the Jets will be hoping for the same this season. Fitzpatrick has been around the league filling gaps here and there. His best season yet was with the Jets in 2015 where he threw 3905 yards and 31 Touchdowns.

Brandon Marshall was a great signing after playing for the Bears for the past 3 seasons before 2015. In 2015 Marshall had 1500 plus yards and 14 touchdowns which was a career high. He works well with other signing Eric Decker who came over from the Broncos in 2014. Decker had 1000 plus yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Jets will miss star running back Chris Ivory. Ivory has now moved onto the Jags. Stepping into fill the role is veteran RB Matt Forte, another former Bears player. Forte is a gun when up and going but there is a real question on his age and durability only playing 13 games in 2015. Bilal Powell showed he is a quality RB and will no doubt get a lot of snaps behind Forte.

The Jets have a solid defense. Cornerback star Darrelle Revis is still up and about. Revis may be on the decline but other teams still aren’t real keen to throw the ball his way. Muhammed Wilkerson will no doubt cause havoc coming off the edge this season, he went to his first pro bowl in 2015 and will no doubt be back there this season.

The Jets may well make the playoffs this season going 10 – 6. Hopefully for Jets fans they will stand up when needed and not fail like week 17 last season.

New York Giants

Can the Giants find a new recipe to that winning formula now with head coach Tom Coughlin no longer at the helm, I dont believe so. Whilst the Giants are not a bad team, they still seem to struggle to win games they should. Eli Manning can be one of the best and one of the worst QB's all in one game. I think they again will be middle of the road team still adapting to a new playbook.

Manning has always been solid but had a few issues with throwing interceptions. Last season Eli threw 14 interceptions which wasnt bad when compared to 2013 where he threw 27. You put that up against Brady (7) or Wilson (8) and its pretty terrible. 1 more interception and he will have 200 in his career, thats something to cheer for!

Odell Beckham Jr is one of the NFL's star up and coming receivers, the guy can catch anything thrown his way. In his 2 seasons he has had over 1300+ yards receiving and 12 and 13 touchdowns. We did however find out something about Odell last season vs the Panthers, He has issues with controlling his temper as shown by a flying headbutt to Norman. Josh Norman v Odell Beckham Jr..Bring on the Redskins!

Sterling Shepard brings help to Odell, he is a star receiver coming straight out of the college system, the Giants will be looking for him to step up to the plate immediately to take some focus off OBJ. Another player they will look to is the return of Victor Cruz from injury. Cruz missed all of the last season with a Calf injury on the back of the ruptured patellar tendon injury from 2014.  The Giants will be hoping for his 2011/2012 form.

Another guy we all like to keep an eye on is Victorian born and bred Brad Wing. Wing was originally picked up by the Steelers but is now Punting for the Giants. Lets hope he can continue with the Giants as its always good to see Aussies doing well.

The Giants will go 7 - 9 this season and miss out on Playoffs again. Eli will throw less interceptions but I just dont see them being a threat. Look out for the Week 3 match up vs the Redskins..going to be a ripper.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints will be hoping Drew Brees can continue his solid career this season. In 2015 Brees was the shining light in an otherwise terrible season. Other standouts on the list are newish receivers Coleman and Cooks, both have been on the list 2 years now. I dont see the Saints troubling to many teams this year all thou they do finally have a new defensive co-ordinator that may help their cause.

Drew Brees is up their as one of the greats of the modern era, he is now going into his 16th season in the league. Over the 16 years Brees has had 10 seasons of 4000 yards or more throwing. His Touchdown tally is on 428 and I have no doubts at some stage he will hit the 500 mark.

Brandin Cooks is the young gun receiver Drew Brees needs this season. Cooks had a solid 2015 with over 1000 yards and 9 touchdowns. This came from a good rookie season. Cooks will look for help from Brandon Coleman who should be ready to go and new comer Michael Thomas. Thomas has shown a lot of promise already over the preseason. Willie Snead will be a big part of the offense, he has shown he has great ability to find open space and he has a solid set of hands.

Mark Ingram will be leading the Running back group, the veteran of 5 seasons has been solid without being a star. 2014 was his best year where he almost had the magical 1000 yard mark. The Saints will be hoping he is out there each week with consistency being a major problem for him.

Coby Fleener comes across from Indy to replace Watson at the TE position, Fleener is a big guy who is pretty reliable down the field. Coming into his 5th season he should be primed for a big year.

I dont give much hope for the Saints this year, I think it will be rough for them. I predict 5 - 11 season. They wont get blown away much as Brees will keep them in games but I just dont think they have a good enough defense.
